Elspeth Owen, who was born in 1938,
is a self taught potter. She had studied History at Using a wide range of
different clays, she constructs her pots through a combination of pinching
and thinning and fires them at a low temperature. This means that they remain
porous, giving them a sense of being ephemeral yet timeless. Elspeth suggests
that her pots “emerge more from memories of holding and being held than from
any study of art or nature.” Her work is to be found
