Joanna Wason

Joanna Wason studied at Exeter College of Art and Liverpool Art School in the mid 1970s and then became a figurative and portrait sculptor primarily working in clay, although much of her work was then cast. Although married to Jason Wason, it was not until the 1990s when she was asked by Janet Leach to assist her in preparing clay, mixing glazes and firing that Joanna’s interest in pottery was aroused. She started making her own slab-built and thrown glazed stoneware pots and these were sold through the Leach Pottery Showroom from 1998 onwards, the year that I remember buying my first pot of hers.
