DOUGLAS FITCH

I know that as a gallery that primarily exhibits studio pottery most of my regular visitors often don’t notice the changing selection of paintings that I hang on the walls, but it is fair to say that works by R. J. Lloyd have proved an exception. April sees the fourth exhibition of Reginald’s paintings at the Harlequin that have in the past been bought by his large band of dedicated followers as well as a number of the Harlequin’s pot buying public.

It was Reg’s interest in pottery and his significant collection of English slipware that has recently been acquired by the Burton Art Gallery & Museum in Bideford, where he has lived for many years, which caused our paths to cross in 2000. As a result it seems natural to show slipware alongside Reg’s work and on this occasion I am pleased to welcome Douglas Fitch to the Harlequin for his first exhibition here in London.
