"Fire and Energy" brings together the paintings of an old friend of the Harlequin Gallery, Denis Bowen, with the wood fired pottery of Graham Ellerby and John Mackenzie. In his book on Denis that is available from the gallery, Peter Davies talks of the artist's "thematic preoccupation with volcanic elements and with the molten surfaces of planet". What better artist to show with two potters, with firing methods that shows a similar preoccupation? Below are examples of each artist's work included in the exhibition and further examples and biographies can be viewed by clicking on the artist's name: - |
