Reg Lloyd – Bideford 2004

R. J. Lloyd
Works on paper 1950 to 1980

R. J. Lloyd returns to the Harlequin Gallery at the beginning of July for a retrospective exhibition of works on paper spanning a period of thirty years. However, be assured that Reg Lloyd is still actively engaged in the pursuit of his motif should the above dates suggest otherwise. It is always an interesting exercise to trace the development of an artist’s career and for collectors of Lloyd’s earlier work there is much here of interest. As well as a fine series of silkscreen prints of the 1960/70s there are drawings, watercolours and monotypes which have not been shown before, nor were they intended to be, as they were reference points for larger paintings. Some of these are more finished than others, some just registering a moment: all have their own validity – there are no pretensions.

Many collectors have begun to seek this background reference to add to their collections and I am delighted to be able to offer this fine selection. This will undoubtedly please both new and established collectors of Lloyd’s work, as well as those of you interested in the development of art in Britain during the last half of the twentieth century.

Below are examples of some of the work included in the exhibition with further examples being added over the coming weeks.
