The pre-Christmas period once again gives me the opportunity to showcase work that has made up the previous year's exhibition programme as well as a wide selection of work new to the gallery. A few examples of the latter are shown above and most are just one of a number of pieces by that specific artist available. The pottery featured covers all periods from the 1930s to the present day and includes a selection of recent pots from two of David Leach's sons, Jeremy and Simon. Jeremy has taken over running the Lowerdown Pottery since his father's death in February and I think the facilities there have enabled him to produce the high quality work he is now making. I have always had a fondness for Jeremy and his work and will repeat here the marketing ploy that he used on me once - "With my work you get the Leach name at a fraction on the price." Simon is Jeremy's younger brother, who lives and works near Valencia in Spain.

I am sure you will have noticed that pots from gallery favourite and French resident, Alan Wallwork, will also be available. Alan has yet to fire any work since moving to France a year ago so most of this will have been previously available. However, he has supplied me with some recently discovered large pots that have not been exhibited here before. An unexpected opportunity that I hope you Wallwork fans will take.

Of the pottery illustrated, I suspect that Rosemonde Nairac is the one name that will be unfamiliar to most of you. Rosemonde spent most of her working life as a freelance designer, especially for Rosenthal in Germany where she was responsible for a number of patterns and shapes used in their porcelain production. Her association with them started in the 1960s but some of her patterns have remained in production to this day. The porcelain boats she is now making were a big seller last Christmas and a new flotilla will be available this year, alongside other more functional items.

Paintings and sculpture by "Gallery Artists" will also be available, including all new work by Laura Gethen Smith. The featured artist in this section is first time visitor, Beverley Isaacs, who will be showcasing a body of work produced during two recent trips to Mexico.
