The Anniversary exhibition at the Harlequin Gallery opened for business at 11am on Friday 1st March. Although I had originally planned to refer to it as the Spring exhibition, it occurred to me that March 2019 marks 20 years since I took over the gallery itself and 10 years since the move from Greenwich High Road and so it seemed appropriate to acknowledge these facts and change its name. For this anniversary exhibition I have gathered together a mix of over one hundred pots and other ceramics by both British and Japanese makers. It will only be possible to show a small fraction of the work available online and so I urge you to come along to the gallery here in S. E. London and browse the eclectic mix of work for sale.
As the vase to the left implies there will be pots by William Marshall included in the show. Bill was, as most of you will be aware, associated with the Leach Pottery from when he left school in the 1930s until his retirement in the late 1970s. Back in 2017, I wrote a short piece for this website about Bill and this has been updated to show some of the other dozen or so pots by Bill available at this anniversary exhibition. Included here are images of some of the other pots that will be available from the start of the exhibition and I was delighted to have found the deep porcelain vase by Derek Emms to offer, as he is to my mind one of the finest porcelain potters that I have come across since becoming interested in studio pottery over 30 years ago. Likewise, the large bowl by Henry Hammond with brushwork decoration depicting birds is also a delight.

After the opening weekend, the exhibition will remain in situ and be open by appointment until the end of May, with other pots being added all the while, in order to fill the gaps.
